"Pure Country" was inspired by painting en plein air at Tommy Johnson's field in East Rowan County, NC. It was a beautiful, crisp, cool morning in mid-October. The sun was skipping across the grass in such splashes of light that I literally couldn't paint it fast enough. I did manage to capture the perfect light and values before I lost this feel and finished this piece in the studio! One of the other painters was complaining that the sky was absolutely too blue that day and that God wasn't right in making it that blue. Well, ......... I absolutely loved the color blue the LORD chose to paint the sky that day and I hope that you do too.
