Old Quaker Home

Old Quaker Home
The Charles House is one of the original Quaker homes in Richmond, Indiana, and it sits along the National Road. It dates to 1813 and was a depot for the Underground Railroad. Eliza, from Uncle Tom's Cabin, was harbored here by the Charles family. It was a warm summer day and its site is next to a large rose garden. The trellis in the foreground equals the majesty of the old large home that also served as an inn for Quaker travelers looking for a new home. I liked how the house was kind of peeping out from the large trees surrounding it, and I was standing in the sun next to the roses trellis. The shadows added to the effect on the house.
