Western Sandpiper and Dunlins

This is part of an in progress collection called “South for the Winter”. Inspired by the passing of my father a couple of years ago who was an ornithologist. We spent many years together birding along the coasts of Florida and winter was my favorite time to scout for shorebirds due to migration. Location- Anastasia St. Park St. Augustine, FL where I spent the day gathering reference (photos, sketching) along the coast and among the dunes. Direct, oil on linen.
