Benny, In process, Laundry scene, NYC
I was living in NYC and this narrow laundry shop moved me. the color of those green walls. I became friendly with Benny. This is a more recent pastel done photographic reference
I left NYC 30 years ago, but held on to my photographs of this shop. I enlarged the photo to a color xerox. My work is very loose and interpretive of this scene. It still moves me.
After ten years of studying figure drawing in NYC, I feel I can interpret from a photo. When living in NY I studied with Harvey Dinnerstein, Gregg Kreutz, David Leffel. Then for two years in the private studio of Burton Silverman. And there was a wonderful figure drawing class on Saturday mornings with Jack Henderson at the Art Students League. Since then, I have taught figure drawing as an adjunct professor for a ten year period.
