Second Winter

In Colorado, Winter is followed by "Fools Spring" and "Second Winter," and this scene is just that- a gorgeous, snowy Spring day north of Boulder. I simply cannot resist black cows on snow, and the sunshine that day only intensified the contrast and depth of the setting. This piece could have easily been titled "Mud and Cowpies," since that's what I was standing in! Plein air painting during this quarantine has kept me sane, and I love this little painting.
