Living in NYC I photographed this narrow shop where women were ironing sheets. It was on Madison Avenue up near 90th street. I was actively taking figure drawing classes with Harvey Dinnerstein at the National Academy of Design on 5th Avenue, and would pass this store, and could not stop thinking about it. Before I left NYC and moved to Midwest, I went back and photographed the shop. I had been moved by some of these small narrow shops where ironing took place. I wonder if these narrow stores exist anymore. We moved to the midwest, in 1990> I now live in St. Paul
It was to be 25 years later, I took out this photo reference and created this drawing.
