A Rainy Friday on McElroy

A Rainy Friday on McElroy

On the prowl one rainy morning for painting subjects, I came over a hill and was confronted by this view. The rain had recently subsided and I was fascinated by the light and mist as it hit this 'non-subject.' Here was a busy street, a construction site, many utility poles, numerous traffic lights and vehicles, and what many would consider to be a miserable day! Yet I was amazed how nature had transformed this subject, and the interesting color and details of this view, and I could only see a very interesting composition. There was no sidewalk along the road, so I set up briefly in someone's driveway long enough to get the composition laid out before the rain started again. Ultimately I had to complete this painting in my studio, where it was nice and dry! This painting was recognized as a Finalist in the November 2018 online Art Muse Contest
